Percussion Instruments
An instrument which is hit to produce the sound is called percussion.
Beginner players require a good sense of beat, rhythm & coordination or have the ability to develop
same very quickly. When playing in ensemble these instruments tend to dominate the tempo, hence untimely playing can lead to poor ensemble performance.
There is a misconception that percussion players can get away with being somewhat "less musical" than wind, brass & string players - quite the opposite is the case.
Players of these instruments can make or break an ensemble.

Beginners learn tuned & un-tuned percussion - the basics:

Glockenspiel, Snare Drum
& Bass Drum

Players also perform on the following as the need arises:

+ Ancillary percussion

+ Timpani

 + Kit Drums
